What we collect

WhosePoo processes data only to provide the identification and sighting log features. All data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

• Photos: Photos you take or select are processed on-device by the machine learning model. They are not uploaded or stored beyond what you explicitly save as a sighting.
• Location: When you identify a dropping, your approximate location is recorded with the sighting if you have granted location permission. This data is stored locally on your device only.
• Sighting history: Saved sightings (photo, species, location, date) are stored in your device's local storage. This data is included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud backup enabled.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect any analytics, crash reports, or usage data.
• We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
• We do not require an account or any personal information.
• We do not share any data with third parties.

Camera and location permissions

WhosePoo requests access to your camera, photo library, and location. These permissions are used solely for the identification feature. You can revoke them at any time in your iPhone Settings. If location permission is denied, the app continues to work — sightings are simply saved without a location.

In-app purchases

WhosePoo offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock full sighting history. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information.

Children

WhosePoo does not knowingly collect any data from children or any other users. No personal data leaves your device.

Third-party attribution

Species geographic range data is derived from occurrence records provided by the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) under a CC BY 4.0 licence.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
